100 Facts

Since everyone else appears to be doing this, I might as well jump on the bandwagon. Right?

  1. I was born September 23. It was a rainy Sunday afternoon.
  2. I am a Christian.
  3. My mother’s maiden name is my middle name. It is unusual and children in my first grade class pronounced it “Mud.” I was understandably mortified.
  4. I started playing the violin at age 5.
  5. “La Folia” is one of my favorite songs to play on the violin because it covers numerous emotions in the span of four pages of music.
  6. I drive a 1998 Honda Accord. Her name is Felicity.
  7. If I have a son, I want to name him Charlie after my grandfather.
  8. I am a photojournalist.
  9. No, I don’t want to photograph your wedding. (Even though the one I shot was fun).
  10. I will take your engagement photos if I really love you, though.
  11. It really irks me when people don’t return phone calls, especially after you left them a message. Negative points go to those in the communications/PR industry who suck at this because HELLO, it’s your job!
  12. If I had a larger closet, the first thing I would buy would be more SHOES.
  13. I cannot wear heels to work because I am horribly uncoordinated and cannot balance and photograph while wearing them.
  14. I began playing basketball at age 4. My goal from then was to make my high school’s varsity team. After I made it, I sat the bench like a champ. Even when we were up 30 points.
  15. My basketball career came to an end after my ill-fitted shoes rubbed a HUGE blister on my heel, and I could not work out with the team for almost a month. When I had healed, I couldn’t catch up and ended up quitting because I hated it so much.
  16. In college, I played for the paper’s intramural basketball team, Paper Jam. We won ONE game during the season, and that was the first win in three years.
  17. No one believed I could play basketball before our first game because, apparently, I “don’t look like a basketball player.”
  18. I was photo editor at the student newspaper for a year.
  19. But I do not wish to do that EVER again, nor do I wish to see some of those colleagues again.
  20. During that year of my life, I drank an average of five caffeinated drinks per day and worked for about 12 hours per day.
  21. I also went to a local restaurant every Tuesday with two co-workers to bitch about work and life and rejoice in our small victories.
  22. My photogs called me the photo team’s mom.
  23. I really enjoy editing papers and articles and anything else that can be written, even though I am a photographer. (And I’m actually pretty damn good at it, too.)
  24. I have two best friends from high school who I keep regularly in touch with.
  25. I have lived in a dorm, the sorority house, and four apartments/homes during my collegiate career.
  26. I want my children to be bilingual.
  27. I was never a dancer, and I feel terribly awkward whenever I have to dance in front of others. Especially by myself.
  28. If I could open up a bakery, I would. And in the years following that, I would significantly gain weight because I have a severe sweet tooth.
  29. I would have a heart attack if I were asked to drive in NYC.
  30. I lived in Cortona, Italy during the summer of 2006.
  31. I don’t think anyone could pay me enough money to go into space.
  32. I am really OCD when it comes to the kitchen and keeping it clean.
  33. I will never be able to live without a dishwasher again because of my last Baton Rouge home and its lack of one. Every time I cooked or used any plates, I felt horrible knowing I was going to have to physically scrub it down later.
  34. My favorite flower is the sunflower.
  35. I really enjoy making lists, if only to check things off them.
  36. If I could, I would eat Italian food every day of the week.
  37. I will refuse to eat anything that is gelatinous. (For example: jello, whipped cream, pudding, etc).
  38. I had my wisdom teeth pulled at the age of 22. The doctor told me I was going to feel like I was on Bourbon Street, and I did!, but then was knocked out.
  39. One of the weirdest nights of my life was spent on Bourbon Street with a few good friends, a journalism professor, numerous potential employers and an ex-boyfriend. No nudity was involved.
  40. I love any music where a harmony is involved.
  41. I wish I spent more time reading.
  42. I did not like coffee until my summer in Italy. Every morning, my roommates and I would have cappuccinos from the Bar Sport Caffe after our 8 a.m. painting class.
  43. I also didn’t like vino until that summer.
  44. I will not go camping if there is not a bathroom with running water around the site. I refuse to pee in the woods.
  45. I am getting a dog after I graduate.
  46. One of the factors I weighed when deciding on a college was, ‘Does the school have a big football program?’ Needless to say, my high school’s football team was a little less than perfect. (They won three games my senior year, and we were all super impressed).
  47. I originally came to college to become a graphic designer.
  48. After I almost sliced my thumb off with an exacto knife, I knew it wasn’t meant to be.
  49. I now have a really cool/gnarly scar on my thumb and a not-so-awesome war story.
  50. Naps during thunderstorms are one of my favorite things.
  51. My first job was a church league basketball referee when I was a sophomore in high school.
  52. For the longest time, I refused to read any of the Harry Potter books because I was a Lord of the Rings girl.
  53. The boy forced me to watch all the Harry Potter movies, so I started reading the books.
  54. I find (most) modern art refreshing.
  55. I would love to backpack through Europe one day, but I know that being able to fit all of my belongings on my back will not work. Ever.
  56. Tiger football basically takes over my life during the fall.
  57. I attended this year’s BCS National Championship and sat in the second row. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.
  58. If you walked into my house any given day, you would probably see the Food Network on the TV.
  59. If you walked into my house any given day, you would also find at least one fresh, homemade baked good.
  60. I am allergic to bananas.
  61. My car’s stereo is permanently turned into NPR.
  62. I wish Freaks and Geeks wasn’t cancelled.
  63. In the 6th grade, I wore a size 10 shoes. I currently wear a size 8 and recently bought a pair in a 7.5.
  64. I can browse bookstores for hours.
  65. I really enjoy writing term papers and articles because I love researching and compiling important information.
  66. I am (slightly) addicted to TV crime shows.
  67. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in Cortona. As long as the people I love could come visit me often or just all move there, too.
  68. Once is my new favorite movie.
  69. I was a Young Life leader for two and a half years before I started working at the paper.
  70. After Apollo 13, I decided I would never become an astronaut.
  71. I recently had a conversation with someone about being the first photojournalist in space. (You know it’s going to happen in this lifetime.) And I would have a HUGE weight on my shoulders if I had the opportunity to do it and turned it down, but space scares me. A lot.
  72. I didn’t wear makeup (most) every day until my senior year of college.
  73. One of my favorite things to bake is oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I am currently perfecting my recipe, and continually ask the boy to be a taste tester.
  74. I have a pitiful addiction to both American Idol and cheesy chick-flicks.
  75. Whenever I have had a rough day, you will inevitably find me making spaghetti and meat sauce.
  76. I crave white grape martinis.
  77. But my drink of choice is an amaretto sour. Or amaretto with orange juice and grenadine. Or basically anything involving amaretto…
  78. If the words “AP Style” mean anything to you, you will probably be my friend.

Erin, I am sad. I clicked the tab that said “100 Facts” and I only got 70! What a rip-off. Although you do write these sorts of things well, and I’m glad our three wins were super impressive (#43).
